Inventory software for food trucks
Crumble is an inventory system for small food businesses. You set up recipe cards, track stock and sales, and cost per portion is calculated automatically. Let's look at the problems a food truck runs into and how to solve them.
Problems and solutions
Problems every food truck runs into
Almost all of them come down to one thing: money leaking out unnoticed. Here's what happens and what to do about it.
The internet drops
At festivals, in parks, and out of town, mobile signal is hit or miss.
Checkout stalls
Sales get written on a scrap of paper, and no one ever enters them into the books.
Works without internet
Crumble keeps selling offline and saves operations on the device, then syncs them without loss or duplicates once the connection returns.
Limited space, limited stock
The truck holds only so much, and it matters not to overload or run out of a key product.
Stop list or write-offs
Bring too little and items run out mid-event; bring too much and product spoils in the heat.
Stock levels and minimums
Stock is visible at any moment, and minimum levels tell you what to restock before heading out.
Menu cost is calculated on the fly
The menu changes for each event, and prices are set by feel.
Breaking even
There are sales, but no profit at the end of the day.
Recipe cards and cost
Set up recipes for your menu items — Crumble will calculate cost from purchase prices.
Products spoil in the heat
They have a short shelf life, and leftovers get thrown out after the shift without being recorded.
Write-offs that skip the books
There's no visibility into how much product ends up in the trash or how much to order next time.
Expiry dates and write-offs
Crumble warns you ahead of expiry dates, and every write-off is logged with a reason.
Cost and price
How to calculate menu item cost in a food truck
Cost per portion is the sum of everything that goes into one portion, per the recipe card. Price is calculated from cost and the margin you want on each sale.
Calculate it yourself
Cost = main product + sauce + side + packaging
Fries price
170 ₽
cost 58 ₽ · 113 ₽ left from each sale
Price = cost ÷ (1 − margin)
